The urgency of Climate Action for the Shipping Industry
Humanity is increasingly aware of the urgent need to reduce fossil fuel emissions, as climate change threatens severe consequences. Shipping, which is vital for global trade and international stability, is responsible for over 90% of goods transport and 4% of human emissions, with this share potentially rising to 15% by 2050. With no complete solution in sight, the shipping industry faces the pressing task of decarbonizing its fleet using renewable energy, digital technology, and innovative regulations.
Wind as the driver of Change
Wind has been a primary propulsion source for ships for over 2500 years until the rise of fossil fuels, as it is freely available in all oceans. Wind is a unique energy source for Shipping that does not compete with other industries. Wind Assisted Propulsion Systems enable hybrid vessels to utilize wind for up to 50% of their propulsive power, offering proven savings and scalability. OceanWings technology aids in decarbonizing shipping by allowing shipowners to harness wind power, leading to reduced emissions, lower costs, compliance with regulations, and a transformation in the global fleet's environmental impact.

Our manufacturing site in Caen, Normandy, France, is where OceanWings are assembled by highly experienced team. With nearby access to port facilities, this allows us to efficiently deliver, install and commission our OceanWings directly onboard vessels.
